Since 2015 the Mankato Kiwanis Club has sponsored the Kiwanis Reading Oasis at Hoover Elementary School. The mission of a Reading Oasis is to provide a safe and nurturing space within the school where students and their families are welcomed to come and read, explore, and learn together.  Through the generous sponsorship of the Mankato Kiwanis Club and Scholastic Book Fairs, Hoover Elementary School received this incredible gift of reading.  The Kiwanis Reading Oasis includes 1,200 grade-specific books and reading materials, furnishings, and a themed carpet.  Each week Kiwanis volunteers read and mentor children at the school.
